PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

Letizia Nicoletti is CEO, Business Manager and Head of the R&D Department at CAL-TEK Srl, a company active in the development of ICT solutions, software, simulation, serious games and immersive technologies. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Calabria, with a thesis focused on innovative solutions for cooperative training in the maritime domain. She also obtained the NATO CAX Operator certification at the NATO Modeling & Simulation Centre of Excellence.

Her scientific and professional activity focuses on the application of Modeling & Simulation, interoperability, immersive technologies, serious games, advanced training systems and ICT solutions to industrial, logistics, defence, cultural heritage and smart manufacturing domains. Her main areas of expertise include the design, management and control of industrial plants, logistics systems and supply chains, the development of immersive and interoperable training environments, real-time distributed simulation, supply chain safety and security, and the application of artificial intelligence techniques to production planning and control.

Over the years, she has gained extensive experience in the management and coordination of national and international research and development projects, acting as Principal Investigator, Scientific Responsible and responsible for research contracts. Her most relevant experience includes projects and contracts with NATO STO CMRE, Italian Ministries, the Calabria Region, the European Commission and national and international competitive programmes, including SMARTDISTR, SG-ICT, SIMCJOH, KNOW4I, 5G-ERA, FELICE, CERERE, IoTwinS-VR, IMPPROVE and LEONARDO.

She is the author of several scientific publications in international journals and conferences in the fields of Modeling & Simulation, logistics, interoperable simulation, smart operators, mixed reality, digital twins and technologies supporting training and decision making. She has also held scientific and organizational roles in international conferences, including Program Co-Chair, Editor and Track Chair, and has served as Guest Editor of special issues in international journals dedicated to simulation and advanced manufacturing systems.

Through her role at CAL-TEK, she contributes to the definition of the company strategy, the management of R&D projects and the transfer of research results into applied industrial solutions, with particular focus on interoperable digital platforms, advanced simulation, immersive training, serious games, smart manufacturing and enabling technologies for the digital transformation of companies.
